Book of 80 pH paper testing strips

Additional information

These pH paper testing strips can be used to test the acidity of fermented beverages such as Kombucha (the Booch), beer and wine.
The Booch is “safe” once it’s pH drops to under 4.5 and ready to drink when it registers at 4.0 or lower.
The perfect pH range for your brew is 2.8 – 3.2

Testing Strip Range: 1 to 14. (most other strips have a much tighter range.. these can be used for ANYTHING :))

80 pH strips per book.. and you can rip them in half so there’s actually at least 160 tests per book! 🙂

More information: pH testing is not CRUCIAL for Kombucha brewing. In fact, most home brewers do not test the pH level of their batches. However, we do recommend pH testing in the early stages of your brewing career so you can get confident that your brew is doing what it is supposed to do.  It’s supposed to drop slowly as it brews.

The low pH level of kombucha is what protects it from harmful microbes.

When using the pH test trips don’t dip it in your brew… use your tap to prevent from contaminating your kombucha batch.

Simple paper strips that test the pH of fermented foods. Just place the strip on the food and watch the colour change. Match the used strip with the colour code on the pack to get an estimate of the acidity of the food. Low acidity result from a successful fermentation. Low acidity preserves the food and keeps harmful bacteria from growing.
